Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery is a groundbreaking technology in the field of urology. It offers the possibility of performing much more precise procedures compared to traditional surgery. Therefore, it is an ideal method for both cancer surgery and reconstructive urological surgeries.

Advantages of Robotic Urology Surgery

Replacing traditional open surgical methods, robotic systems maximize surgical success thanks to the high-resolution 3D image they provide to the surgeon and the precise arms that offer 540-degree movement capability even in confined spaces.

Robotic surgery offers several advantages over traditional methods:

  • Shorter recovery time
  • Shorter hospital stay
  • Less pain
  • Less blood loss
  • Lower risk of infection.
  • Better cosmetic results

Advanced Laser Technology

Precise and minimally invasive surgery with next-generation lasers.

Minimal Pain

Less bleeding, a more comfortable and safer treatment process.

Fast Recovery

Short hospital stay and quick return to daily life.

Expert Urology Team

Safe surgery with experienced physicians and advanced technology.

How are robotic surgeries performed?

During the operation, the surgeon sits at a robotic console located next to the patient. Robotic arms and a camera are inserted through small incisions made in the patient’s abdomen.

The surgeon applies the movements made on the console to the patient via robotic arms. Thanks to the camera providing a 3D and magnified view, the surgeon sees the surgical field much more clearly and performs the operation more precisely.

This technology, performed through millimeter-sized incisions, minimizes the risk of infection because it leaves no large scars on the body, and significantly reduces patients’ need for post-operative painkillers.

Which Urological Surgery Procedures Use Robotic Surgery?

At Urohealth Clinic, robotic surgery is used in the following urological operations:

Cancer Surgeries

  • Radical Prostatectomy (Prostate cancer surgery)
  • Radical cystectomy (bladder cancer surgery)
  • Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection

Reconstructive Surgeries

  • Vesicovaginal Fistula Repair
  • Sacrocolpopexy (treatment of uterine prolapse)
  • Pyeloplasty Ureter surgeries

Is Robotic Surgery Right for You?

Robotic surgery may not be suitable for every patient and every condition. Therefore, the most accurate decision should be made in consultation with an experienced surgical team.

Robotic Surgery - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the surgery being performed by a robot or a doctor?
The surgeon performs the operation entirely. The robot does not make decisions on its own; it is an advanced technological assistant that transmits the surgeon’s finger movements to the robotic arms with millimeter precision.
The biggest difference is that instead of large incisions, it’s done through just a few small (millimeter-sized) holes. This means less bleeding, less pain, and much faster healing.
The system displays the surgical area to the surgeon in a 10-15x magnified, high-resolution 3D format. This depth perception allows the surgeon to see blood vessels and nerves much more clearly than with the naked eye.
Robotic arms have the ability to rotate 540 degrees. This allows for highly precise maneuvers in narrow and deep areas that the human hand cannot reach, completely eliminating hand tremors.
Yes. Because the surgery is performed using a minimally invasive technique with very small incisions, tissue contact with the external environment is minimized. This significantly reduces the risk of infection and sepsis.
6. How long do I need to stay in the hospital after surgery?
Recovery after robotic surgery is very rapid. Our patients are usually discharged 1-2 days after surgery and can quickly return to their social lives.
Particularly in prostate and bladder cancer, protecting vital nerves and blood vessels in the surrounding area while removing tumor tissue is critical. Robotic precision offers a significant advantage in preventing functional losses (urinary incontinence, sexual dysfunction, etc.) while achieving cancer control.
Unlike traditional surgeries, there are no large incision scars. Only a few small puncture marks, about 1 cm in size, remain, which become almost invisible over time.
It is successfully applied in prostate, bladder, and kidney cancers, as well as in reconstructive procedures such as uterine prolapse (sacrocolpopexy) and stricture surgeries (pyeloplasty). However, a doctor’s examination is required to determine suitability.
Urohealth Clinic physicians have over 10 years of experience in robotic surgery. With experience in thousands of cases, we aim to help you regain your health by using technology in the safest and most effective way.
