Robotic MR Fusion Prostate Biopsy
Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men. Early diagnosis greatly increases the success of treatment. The most reliable method for diagnosing prostate cancer is prostate biopsy.
Prostate Cancer and the Importance of Early Diagnosis
The classic biopsy method is performed transrectally with ultrasound guidance. However, this method may be insufficient to detect cancerous tissue in some cases. Today, the MR fusion biopsy method, which provides more accurate results in patients suspected of having prostate cancer, is preferred.
How is MR Fusion Prostate Biopsy Performed?
- Multiparametric MR is first performed on patients with high PSA test results or those with suspicious findings during examination.
- If PIRADS 3 or higher suspicious areas are seen on the MRI, MR-Ultrasound fusion biopsy is performed to obtain a biopsy from these areas.
- The procedure can be performed transrectally or using the perineal method, which carries a lower risk of infection.
Advantages of Robotic MR Fusion Biopsy
New generation robotic fusion biopsy devices offer more accurate and reliable results in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
Advantages of robotic biopsy:
- High accuracy in targeting
- Lower risk of infection
- Reduces the need for repeat biopsies
- Safer and more comfortable for the patient
